Introducing Nicole Richie's House of Harlow Jewelry Line

Nicole Richie models looks from her jewelry collection, House of Harlow 1960.

For more than a few years now, women (and the fashion press) have been spellbound by Nicole Richie’s brand of eclectic glamour: the look of a jet-setting gypsy who hangs with rock stars and has a jewelry box full of pieces from each far-flung locale, bygone relationship, and personal epiphany. Normally, it would take years to acquire such a multifarious, envy-inducing bauble collection, but Richie has made it as effortless as her style, bottling her chic nomad persona in her new jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960.

Named after Richie’s baby daughter, House of Harlow fuses elements of vintage, tribal, frontier, flower child, old-school glitz, and rock ‘n’ roll. All pieces are meant to be layered, stacked, and mixed (not matched) with devil-may-care insouciance.

“I’ve always loved jewelry,” says Richie of her decision to launch her own collection, “and when I was young I made friendship bracelets for my friends. I guess you could say my designing started then.”

And the inspiration behind her line? “I’m constantly looking for things that challenge and exhilarate me, whether it is an exhibit at LACMA, a new piece from a favorite designer, or something I’ve read.”

What’s especially great about this line is its versatility: the leather-covered cuffs, etched rings, and enameled statement necklaces work for a range of personal styles and go with everything from silk maxi dresses to slouchy jersey tanks. Matter of fact, it’s hard to think of anything House of Harlow wouldn’t make more wow-worthy.
