You may have noticed that the bookshelf photo at the top of Omni switched over a little while ago. Our new photo was sent by reader and author Emily Bullock, and we asked her to write a few words introducing her shelf:
The picture shows a small selection of my bookshelf where I keep some favourites and some books I still haven’t read. Mason and Dixon by Thomas Pynchon has followed me around but I keep on finding a reason not to pick it up, this Spring it is top of the list. We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver is a masterpiece and I would recommend it to anyone (perhaps except the very squeamish, but just brace yourself and give it a try).
In Cold Ink by David Robinson was a present and I keep dipping into it. As a writer I love to read about other people and how they write that’s why I also keep a copy of Anne Lamott’s Bird by Bird with me at all times! The Separate Principle by Emily Bullock of course gets front space. It is my first published book (don’t worry the others are in the pipeline) set in the build up to the Second World War on the Isle of Wight, it deals with the secrets and lies that can drive a family apart. Now back to reading Mason and Dixon….

Thanks, Emily! Please send in your own shelf photos–we’d love to feature them. –Tom
